About this tool
NDVI (Normalised Difference Vegetation Index) compares near-infrared and red light reflected by the crop: dense, healthy vegetation scores high; bare soil and stressed crop score low. The imagery is from ESA's Sentinel-2 satellites at 10 m resolution, published free of charge by the EU Copernicus programme, and revisits the UK roughly every 2–3 days (clouds permitting).
What this tool does: shows how vegetation vigour varies within your fields on a given date, and lets you compare recent satellite passes.
What this tool does not do: diagnose the cause. Low NDVI can be drought stress, poor establishment, disease, waterlogging, lodging — or simply a freshly cut silage field. Ground-truth what you see and involve your agronomist before changing management. Not advice.
